Hi,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your article, and I think that is one of the salient powers of Facebook, people have a sense of belonging to a community, even if you are social aisolated, or live very far away, you can have interaction. One of the readings criticsm was about not having human touch, contact...but I guess the interaction that you get in facebook is equal important and same stimulant...I feel this way, you can interact with other humans and have fun!!!
Hi Franca,
ReplyDeleteI read the article and I guess I'm 'old school' because I do not think that a social community such as Facebook should and can replace human interaction. I thing that the definition of "friends" has changed because of these social networks. Why would I call you a friend on my Facebook if I do not consider you a friend in really life - the definitions have gotten distored. I enjoy meeting friends for dinner and drinks - how would I do that in Facebook? For me human interaction is very important and I do not feel that I could every replace it with Facebook. Don't get me wrong...email is a fabulous tool and I also couldn't live without it either. I guess it all comes down to what you are comfortable with and what works for you personally.
P.S. Great picture - you look fabulous
I like your short and sweet image! I personally see blogging on the internet as a “social recluse syndrome” and an excuse for people to become antisocial and withdrawn from society’s activities. The same time that Jenny would spend taking pictures of her and her family and their activities, cropping the photos and post them on the internet (all very time-consuming, not time-management), she could use that time to take herself and kids out or invite someone to her home so the family can socialize together and teach the kids some social skills. Image what would this world be like if our kids and grandkids become social recluses like some of us today? Sure the internet provides a wealth of information and knowledge, but it certainly lacks teaching critical and cognitive thinking and we need a balance of both in our society and communities?
